Records and plays back engine RPM data to analyze vehicle performance, the AutoMeter 3966 is a 5 in pedestal tachometer featuring air-core electric movement with white incandescent lighting. Designed for 12 cylinder engines with 0.5-6 pulse ignition signals and compatible with 12v or 16 volt systems, this tachometer captures up to 80 seconds of RPM data on a 0-9,000 rpm scale and plays it back at either 1:1 or 1:3 speed. The replay allows detailed analysis of burnout, launch RPM, tire spin, gear changes and engine speed through the traps.

The tachometer features up to four programmable gear-specific shift light points for competition use. An optional Launch Lite feature works with a separate shift light to aid proper vehicle staging. Built-in short-shift protection monitors RPM drop to detect gear changes, while a remote recording trigger lead connects to a push button, trans-brake, line-lock, clutch switch, or foot brake light switch. A green LED indicates the current recording mode. The unit comes with mounting hardware and bulb & socket, featuring a brushed aluminum Super Bezel housing with fluorescent red pointer on a black dial.
