Designed for street machines, it performs best with proven combinations including the Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap intake manifold, headers, and a TCI Breakaway torque converter (2200–2400 stall) paired with a 3.73 gear ratio, producing a slightly rough idle and improved overall drivability. Featuring full-size base circles, this camshaft works seamlessly with COMP Cams Evolution hydraulic roller tappets and eliminates the need for dog bones and lifter retainers—components never intended for pre-1985 applications. This camshaft supersedes part number 31-442-8, delivering a dependable upgrade with balanced street and performance capability.
